About

When Ross Watson was introduced to Pipe Bands by his good friend at the age of eight, his passion for bagpipes was sparked. At the time he was told he was too small to play the pipes and so he waited it out for a year, and in 1986, was finally able to take them up for himself.

Ross played the pipes for Kelty & Blairadam Pipe Band until he was thirteen after which he joined Lochgelly High School Pipe Band before moving onto Dysart and Dundonald Pipe Band. At age sixteen he then took up a career as a joiner, which quickly started to interfere with his bagpipe practice. Shortly after this Ross was made an offer he couldn’t refuse, to change paths and start making bagpipes professionally.

In 1997 Ross gave up playing seriously for Pipe Bands and channelled his passion into making traditional bagpipes and of course the all-important pipe chanter. While he might not play the pipes for himself now, knowing he is still involved with the music and his bagpipes are being played at the highest level is equally rewarding.

For the last three decades Ross has proudly built bagpipes that help others achieve their own goals and dreams, this is what drives his commitment to hand crafting top quality bagpipes in the traditional way.
